Monday afternoon workdays

Posted by Pete-O on 02 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

I will be at the Possum on Mondays at 4pm for the following dates:

April 7, 14, 21, 28

May 5, 12

I intend to bring a bike to ride out to locations as most areas left to cut are healthy walks.

Call me if you’re interested in working 660.238.2067.

South Loop

Posted by Al Gore on 28 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Brandon, Greg and I put in some productive hours on Sunday, 1/27.  From the bathtub (that li’l concrete box at the western junction of the south/north loops), we chainsawed the bejesus out of the long downhill, to the bottom of the valley.  It’s gonna make a screamin’ downhill, and a nice, steady, climb.

Last weekend, Keith and I hiked the south loop in 13 degree temps to finalize the location of the northwest (upper left) part.  Space down to the aerial photo and look at the upper left loop of the trail, in red.  After last weekend, that loop extends nearly to the upper left corner of the photo, before turning back.  I figure it adds about 3/4 to 1 mile.

Work days to be posted soon…

Keith, Travis, and I knocked out some work on Jan. 12, Barry and his dog found more work for us to do….until next time. Kind of leafy out there.

Hello? Is this thing on?

Hey peoples. Does anyone check this thing anymore? We’d really like to see this project completed this year. Please help us accomplish this goal.
Anyway, Pete is leading a workday this Saturday January, 12th at 8am. Meet at the Possum trail head. Gonna do some tread work on the southern side. Come get some.

WOOT!

It would seem that we got ourselves a few miles of trail to ride. A few pics from Sunday’s Pete and Brandon work day as well.

New Workdays!

Posted by Al Gore on 14 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

O.k., in the next 2 work days we will reach our goal way ahead of schedule!  A rideable loop before May.

Saturday, April 21, the second group of UCM/IBE students plan to put in a day’s work.  Orientation at the visitor’s center in the morning, then head to the trail.  (exact times soon)  This day, we’ll finish the connector trail (between the small pond and the “concrete box”) right in the middle of the whole trail system.

Sunday, April 22, we need all the “regulars” to show up and finish off the north loop.  We’ll rework the 200′ at the top of the out-and-back, then do the rocky hill in the upper-left of the map, and finish anything from the day before.

Here’s the catch, I need two experienced people to lead those days.  (I’ll only be there for a bit, since I’m socked in at work, ugh.)  If you can help, please let me know at freetrails@charter.net

Knocked about 3/4

Posted by Pete-O on 02 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

IBE’s were back in the house on Saturday. Also had some of the ‘oldies’ show up. We made more progress, knocking out close to a mile in 3 hours.

About 10 or so IBE members showed up for this day (all of them aren’t pictured). WOW! They really busted some hump out there this day. So much was done. Al Gore got a wild hair and ended up mowing just about all of the northern loop and some of the southern one too. Freakin’ Al Gore. Wins an Oscar, invents bike clubs and teh internets, AND is a mad trail building dude…Big props to Al and Tipper for providing grub and beverages afterwards.
